Through Baptism in Our Lord Jesus Christ and celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist, we, all the members of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, commit ourselves to:
Growing as a community of believers who affirm the glorious diversity of God's people.
Embracing Stewardship as a way of life by sharing our time, talents and treasure:
and Spreading the Good News by living, loving, sacrificing and working together for the Glory and Honor of God.
On behalf of Father Jim the Stewardship Committee extends a heartfelt "THANK YOU" for a job "WELL DONE"!!
The request to make this a memorable occasion for Mary Ellen in consideration of her retirement at the end of the school year was presented to the new SMG Reception Committee and they succeeded beyond all expectations. Over 350 came to show their appreciation and thanks to Mary Ellen!
The SMG Reception Committee was headed up by Barbara Peznowski with the primary team members of Pam Nolan, Nancy Benson, Betsy Kalina, Mary Best and Duddie Reid. These ladies stepped up to the challenge to make this the most memorable event and just outdid themselves! It was asked that there be an abundance of food and varieties and it not run out so all would have the opportunity to take the taste test and they achieved it with the beauty of a convention center spread with food for the adults and special foods for the kids!
Father Jim requested wine and the Knights of Columbus Council 6269 donated funds to assist in the cost to insure the adults had it as one of their libation options and the SMG Knights served the wine. The committee also had two teas and water and two different punches for the children.
The support by the Home and School group with food and variety was tremendous. The National Junior Honor Society stepped up and did the set up and support. The school children made up fantastic huge signs by classroom that adorned the entire walls of the Holy Family Life Center. The beautiful table center pieces designed by the school art teacher that incorporated the children were superb. The committee had all the responsibilities for the event divided out and to EVERYONE that assisted is included in this “THANK YOU” for all your stewardship to the parish and Mary Ellen!
Mother's Day 2015 - Father Jim celebrates 35 years as a priest on Mother's Day!
How very honored we women of 5:30 Mass were tonight, as we stood next to Fr. Jim during the Consecration, on this the weekend of his 35th ordination to the Holy Priesthood.
For it is declared: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 7:17
